I dislike labels.
I’ve noticed that when people first meet me they don’t know what to make of me. In an attempt to understand, they will label me. They will put me into a category. I’ve been labeled many things and it differs depending on the person I’m talking to. There are many things I like and enjoy. I can’t possibly be limited to a label. I AM LIMITLESS.
I think people use labels out of fear or lack of understanding. They feel safe when judging a situation and then placing a title on it.
Recently I’ve experienced something that can’t be explained. According to google, the Oxford English Dictionary contains 171,476 words in current use, yet there are no words to describe this situation. It can’t be articulated which has been very unnerving for me. I realized there are some things that can’t be explained, only felt with the heart.
I met a friend I had a deep, primal connection with. It feels as if there is a part of this person that is always one with me. Even that explanation does it no justice. We share thoughts, feelings, and common interests.
In an attempt to understand the situation I searched and found a few labels, such as karmic relationships, soulmates, twin flames, etc. Although these words are trendy, I refuse to use them. Here is why: When we choose a label, we are also restricting ourselves to one solution. Labels complicate things. Labels limit us. By putting people into categories, we are divided.
You are so much more than what you do for a living, the material things you own, the amount of money in your bank account, your hobbies, your interests, and more. You’re an individual, one of a kind far too special to be labeled. “We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.” Let’s destroy labels and create unity. When we look at the bigger picture of life, we are all connected. Connected by living on the same planet, by being human and by sharing the need to be loved.
